Help. Does anyone know how to get LPG in Italy NOW? There appears to be some new regulations and zi have been refused today. Running out of Gas and campsites that are open are few and far between.

It appears that Esso are refusing LPG to motorhomers, but Agip filled ok. I have emailed Gaslow about the problem.

We had no problem (in Italy) last summer
Not a single refusal but maybe things have changed..
Just top up more often (or try to).
I cannot remember 100% but Toll road fuel stations are DIY so should be OK...
Just beware their air hoses may let your tyres down ..only suited for cars

It was on a toll road that the refusals came. Bright shiny new sign pointed to. Unfortunatly I don't read (or speak) Italuan so can't say what sign said. Probably the same thing as in France.

I was refused couple of weeks ago in Casino supermarket in Oyonnax France we got it up the road in a TOTAL service station

Heard back from Gaslow. They told me that we will have problems in Italy as the tax on gas for domestic use is much higher than gas for vehicles. They are not supposed to sell gas where they suspect it is for domestic use. Not good news.

Just an aside ... there is a handy app for an android smartphone that you can use with a phone camera. Point at a road sign (or maybe a resturant menu?) and it will superimpose the translated meaning on the screen. Very handy.

Hopefully you won’t have to use much gas ... it’s gonna be so sunny you won’t need the heating and will eat salads!
Might be worth asking an Italian how they get around the problem given there are so many It motorhomes on the road.

Not good news for me as I ski in Italy with the van and usually fill up at least once while their, sometimes twice aghhhhh.

On the pumps where I was refused I noticed that the quantities of gas were around 20 litres, which seems a very small quantity if their car is running on gas. I have friends who fill portable bottles for their caravans with a filler in their car which makes it appear that they are running on gas. I suspect that lots of Italians are doing the same with domestic bottles. That does not help us. The lady from Gaslow suggested that we use Italian gas bottles if we are there for any length of time. One gaslow and one connection for a local bottle.

David. I've got the app, but was so surprised at the reaction that I forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me.
