Hi all, just purchased a 2016 Eldiss Accordo 105 which has a refillable gas bottle (yellow) it has a 2nd pipe running from the Regulator, can I purchase & fit an ordinary 6kg Propane Bottle (Red) as a spare to use when yellow runs out, thanks in advance Chris.

Check the hoses to see if they are date stamped. Recommendation is to replace the pigtails after years. Your van is now 6 years old.

It certainly looks like you have a refillable system with the option to put a calor gas cylinder in as well.

This is what I have at the mo if anyone can help me ,thanks Chris.

Your 'spare hose' looks identical to the one 1 bought from Autogas in Thirsk in Jul 21 and it was sold as being the required connection for a Calor refill or similar 'for when you're in the Highlands and there's no lpg available'

The whole point of refillables is that you can top them up so they really shouldn't ever run out.

I was just inquiring if anyone has the same set up so to have a back up if unable to top up, as Second Refillable is quite expensive, thanks for the replies, Chris.

My van has an underslung tank but also had a connector like yours in the old gas locker.

After a few years I removed that to put a big habitation battery in there instead. The gas connector had never been used. I would never pay for an exchange cylinder instead of topping up at even the most expensive place.

With refillables there is no point* in having two bottles. If the one you have isn't big enough, but a bigger one and sell the smaller one secondhand.
* Unless the locker is too small for a bigger bottle.

I also cannot understand the need to have a second gas bottle if you have one refillable. Be like fitting a second fuel tank just in case you run out.

And the photo shows clearly that there is room for a bigger bottle in your van.

I cannot understand why one wouldn't; peace of mind, especially if going off grid for a decent period, take advantage of price falls, not risking running out when in remote areas, not worrying about running the heating and the fridge etc. We were away for 87 days recently and very few EHU's, so 2 gas bottles were very useful

Do you have two diesel tanks?

Diesel is available at every station, LPG is not, so 2 bottles is advisable. Most people who have LPG go for 2 bottles for that reason. If your diesel tank was half the size, you would certainly opt for another tank if possible. With your argument, you would only need one Calor bottle also.
To the op, I would fit another refillable. LPG is much cheaper than Calor and Mylpg.eu will show where all the stations are. Also, should you venture to Europe, Calor is not available but LPG is far more common than in the UK.

It sounds likely, assuming the regulator has either a changeover switch or is automatic. If you can quote the regulator make and model it will be possible to give a definitive answer.

But many carry a fuel can, just in case.
Diesel is much more plentiful too, than Autogas stations.

We have a pair of refillables.
Manual change over.
Great ! use a bottle until it is empty. Then swap over to the 2nd. We then have at least 2 weeks before a refill is needed. So as one bottle lasts us for 3 weeks we go over 1 month between refills.
For us a 2nd bottle is best.
As we can topup as suits.
