M/Home Security

I just want to make mine harder to break into than the one parked next to me tbh...

We have fitted 2 x Dummy CCTV camera,s to each side of the van Mounted with double sided magnetic sheet so no holes covering the doors & windows at £3.50 each ,,,, Been asked a few times how much to fit & when i tell them £7.98 😂🤣😁,,,, if a theif is nearby then they may well go to the van with NO obvious security IMO ,,,,,

The bad bit is pudsey, over here we used to bring in nicked cars where they were full of sh one t in the back seats, not sure if this was fright from police chase or just something the we barstewarts did for fun.
Im thinking a lot of vans may be smashed up inside as they look for hidden goodies money or passports etc, one hell of a mess to sort out.

Well at least after your comment you can all do a bit of colouring in :D :D

If you don't mind me asking where did you purchase these from ....nifty idea is that thinks I might copy 😉

Our Pandora alarm has an Imobiliser as well. You need the Bluetooth dongle on the keyring to start the engine. It's also got a tracker but it's not a monitored one. I can see where the vehicle is on my phone. I can also use my phone to turn the engine off.

Which tracker do you use?

Which tracker do you use?
It's all part of the same package. The tracker is part of the alarm system. The Imobiliser is a separate unit that connects to the alarm. Only thing missing is an external flashing light but got stickers on the windows. Got the alarm guy to put a Giffgaff sim card in so I don't have to pay a yearly fee.

It all depends on what you want the motorhome to be secure against.
Walk-by vandals?
Theft from the vehicle?
Theft of bits of the vehicle?
Personal attacks by intruders?
Theft of the vehicle?

Then there's what you want to happen when one of these is attempted.

Add stronger locks and the break-in might be discouraged. On the other hand, visible security might be taken as a sign that it's worth breaking into. Certainly stronger locks are likely to mean more damage from a break-in.

You can add an immobiliser but the vehicle already has one. What you're adding might just be more to go wrong.

You can add a tracker, which may or may not help you get it back after a theft. Which you may or may notwant. If you have a tracker with a server subscription, you get a nice record of your travels, a way to find the van in an unfamiliar town and a check on the accuracy of your speedo.

All these security things have advantages and disadvantages. You have to choose ways important to you.

One that is entirely a bad idea is a visible external lock, such as the folding handles over hab doors. They can only be locked from outside, so are a clear indication that the van is empty and worth breaking into, but they don't stop breaking in at all.

We have a Millenco Habitation Door lock ,,,, Which can be operated from the inside & outside so extra security whilst u sleep ,,, £ 60 & fitted in 10 mins by us,,,

I looked at these but didn't fancy drilling through the Van & Dealership said they would make a mess of the door if they tried to force entry.
