We are selling our MH and took a call from these chaps offering to sell our MH for us using their brand and buyer facilities.

Has anyone done this, are there any pitfalls. They said there is no cost to us. Always aware that there’s no such thing as a free lunch.

They take a lot of commission
My auntie has hers for sale with them at the moment they have advertised it at £21,000 and they return her £17300 when sold.

They basically add £3k to whatever you want for it making it more expensive to the buying public, if you sell it yourself within 90 days they still want their money, if it doesn't sell they ask YOU to reduce the price, they may reduce their cut if you insist.

I had a good experience using them and it seems to depend very much on the local agent. As a lone female I didn’t want to deal with the sort of intimidation that has been used as a tactic when I have sold cars privately. Yes they put an amount on top of the price but I stated what I wanted for it and it sold within the time span I needed. The money was transferred to their holding account and then to me so no fears of a money scam.
I sold the Motorhome with any jobs I was aware of having been done by the local garage so it was sold in complete faith that I knew of nothing wrong with it, if anything subsequently happened then they would be dealing with MotorHome Depot and not me so that was peace of mind.

I guess it probably depends upon your personal circumstance And the local agent.

That to me is the only reason to use them.

Might be tempted to use them if I were giving up motorhoming, otherwise I would take what I feel is the safer route [and personal choice will trump cold logic] and get a P/Ex figure from the Dealer. I know Kev feels quite strongly about the Motorhome £3000 commission, but the Dealer margin will be more [A Dealer Member of another Forum was quoting £8000 as what he needed to stay in business and provide a 'no corner cutting' service] in return for taking the risk on the condition/saleability of the Trade In

Even if I were giving up motorhoming, I would still investigate a sale to a Dealer; they are still advertising strongly to buy your Motorhome, and they can deal with prospective buyers while I bank the cash

I used them to sell my Burstner, as stated have a price in mind on what you want and their average markup is around the 3k but if you are getting what you want thats fine they deal with the clowns and seem to have a good idea on a genuine buyer and weed out the tyre kickers they also pay for the advertising. They will come along and show the prospective buyer around. All I can say is they had a couple of people looking for the particular model I had so a deal was done within a week or so.
I advertised on autotrader beforehand and had one guy put down a deposit then kept putting off collecting after several weeks he asked for his deposit back as he had changed his mind, in my view after a bit of investigation finding his profile on faceache he was trying to sell on but the deal fell through so he didnt get his £500 back.

Not heard of that dodge before, almost a scam, but not quite, basically drop shipping, sell before you buy.

I am selling my van with them right now. I signed the contract in October but it was dead until the new year. Buyer collects in 3 days time. They initially wanted £4,000 commission which made the van too expensive, but they agreed to drop to 3k if I reduced my price by 1k. I estimate I could have sold privately for an extra 2k. The buyer wanted some MOT advisories sorted so I paid for them and the agent reduced his commission by £500 to get the sale, so it is possible to haggle with the agent when a buyer is on the hook.
