Hi Folks. I have put a deposit on a motorhome with a dealer. I didn't manage to do a full check on the vehicle, but had a look around, took it for a test ride, and it ticked all the boxes. The dealer has assured me that the vehicle will be checked over and serviced with any problems or faults sorted out. I do feel that a private vehicle inspection would be a good thing for my peace of mind and considering the money involved. I`m not sure if to have the inspection before or after the service / repairs. Also who to use for an inspection. I live on the London / Surrey borders Any advice would be appreciated.

Maybe you should name the dealer, they probably know nothing whatsoever about the history of the van maybe even buying it in from auction or as a P/X but some on here may have dealt with them before and able to provide a good or poor reference.

get a reputable independent motorhome inspection done by aa rac or a mobile tech if your in doubt ,if dealer says he does not allow it walk away as he is hiding something imho

It's worth updating your visible address (General Area only) as it helps folk post more useful replies.

In my view, it's worth driving a few miles to buy from a reputable dealer, and given the above, if you have bought from JohnsCross Motorhomes then you should have no problem as they have an outstanding customer reputation.

If you have never owned a caravan or motorhome before then you really must pay for an independent inspection. If the dealer stands by his 'vehicle will be inspected before handover' promise then he could have no possible objection.
