Hi there, unfortunately some kind individual has helped themselves to my motorhome, stolen from outside my house last night in Stannington, Sheffield, S6, Monday 1st Feb between approx 4pm and midnight. If anybody sees it driving about or knows anything please get in touch. reported to police and insurance but thought i would share the news.

*** Update, still missing however, was spotted on CCTV just up the road from the place it was stolen passing on Monday 1st Feb @ 22.41pm followed by what looks like a white BMW 1 series. White Car and my Van also spotted approximately 10minutes later turning of Malin bridge onto Loxley road, this information was passed onto the police, and people have offered for the police to go view their CCTV footage but as yet the police have failed to action on this. No more sighting since, Had an an alarm and an immobiliser so must have been pros to get around this without causing too much noise. Was a quiet cul-de sac where it was taken from. Thanks for all the responses and suggestions. Unfortunately no further news. ***

**** As an update, unfortunately there has been no further sighting of my van, Police showed no interest in investigating the theft, really disappointed with how South Yorkshire police dealt with me. i found them to be extremely unprofessional, completely disorganised and clearly under resourced. completely lost faith and respect for them.

As much as i would prefer my van back, i have had accept its gone, so i reached a settlement last week with the insurance company. I do not normally praise insurance companies ( i was fully expecting a long drawn out battle). it was insured by Comfort Insurance who are partnered with Aviva. The Staff at Aviva were absolutely brilliant, polite, sympathetic and never felt like they were trying to wriggle out of paying. They have offered me a true market value for the van. They also made me a sensible offer for the contents in the van that were also taken. Made a difficult experience so much easier. Thanks to all the people that took time to comment, and thanks to Go European motorhomes for their advise and help, much appreciated. anyway onwards on upwards the search for a replacement Malibu starts now ****

Dirty rotten ------------------ds. Hope you are sorted out and they're obviously seasoned thieves as there's not many vans about the now and easily spotted

As said above, worth a trawl around out of the way car parks. They can be left in quiet spots to see if it has a tracker installed.
Worth a punt.

Really sorry to hear - what a pain in the bum

Was there any additional security? Any ideas how they got it away?

Ours, value aside, has had >1000hrs of effort to make - so losing that would, well, rather annoy me! So learning what works/doesn't work is always useful

Good luck getting it back

I’m an ex sheffielder and know the area as I’m sure lamby does.
Nearest out of the way car park to stannington is the bottom of “rails road” as it crosses rivelin valley road.
I’ve used it for an overnight stop occasionally.
Worth a look?

Ah, so you’ve got a good spot to hide the body? It’s always best to be prepared, there’s nothing worse than having to worry about how to dispose of it after the event.

Really sorry to hear this news, it’s never easy and so personal. Unfortunately the lawful penalties in these modern times aren’t sufficient to deter the thieving scum who believe that something that isn’t theirs can be taken.
Hope your van turns up unsullied.

Shame, the op doesn't seem to have been back to update us. Maybe it's found...hope so!

Really sorry to hear this. We were victims at 3 a.m. a couple of years back. From in from of house. We struggled with the rage we felt for weeks. We did move on and find a replacement. It is a cliché but time is a healer. All the best.

Had immobiliser and Alarm. its not just the value of the van, its personal possessions and memories built up over the years that cannot be replaced.
