I'm with LV= and am very happy with the cover and premium. I'm (well!) over 65 and have extended trips away.
I hope that helps.

If you belong to Caravan and Motorhome club or Camping and Caravaning Club do chech their health insurance.
£110 each for 6 months both over 60.
You can save the cost of the membership by useing the ferry booking service.

Many Thanks for all the replies and suggestions.
Our trips are all over 3 months BUPA wanted almost £2000
Most other companies only do 45 or 90 days. (I have checked 4)
Flying back to UK is simply not a viable option and indeed the cost of this would make it more expensive
Previously our cover was for 9 months (279 days) I have reduced this to 6 month (6x31 =186 days) and the premium has come down to £850

So it is case of "Payup and Shutup"....
Deal renewed with AXA/Lloyds bank

My van insurance is with Scenic and the premiums I got from them for extended trip out of the country has been very affordable.

My home insurance is with the NFU and what a truly brilliant company they are in all respects. As and when I know we are going on any long extended trips I give them a call and they arrange medical cover etc. as well as waving their normal restrictions on being away from home.

Mind you, as all their offices throughout the country are independent, it very much depends on how "turned on" the individual office is.

Nationwide free with flex account.
We upgraded to 180d trip length, winter sport, world wide, and hazardous sports (inc snowboarding, motorbikes, rafting, downhill mountainbiking)- and it was £200 or so.

Now on 45d length (boo hoo) and it was peanuts, and upgrading to worldwide from European was £6....

May be worth looking at their standalone policy if not with them?
