Check out this letter in today’s P & J (“another summer of driving misery”) - makes us motorhomers feel really welcome doesn’t it!

WTF !
A real shame .. without being too cynical Scotland needs tourism !
We toured in 2017 and had no problems and no undue traffic...The single track roads with passing places were fine..
However it was "early season"..
We wild camped every night except the harbour/aire at Kinlochbervie
 
Our last time up there was bloody awful mainly due to the hire brigade, both motorhomes and cars ( mainly Vauxhalls on Welsh C & D registrations ).

I say bloody awful i actually mean fcuking horrendous, they are the scum of the earth and they don`t give a toss.

The rubbish we encountered including toilet waste was the worst i`ve ever seen.

For the foreseeable future we will not be going back up there because if we do i`ll probably kill one of the twats.

What are you calling "early season"?
Wondering as I am thinking of having a run round, but want to avoid the busy time AND the midges.

I’d suggest by the end of May at the latest.
Midges can be avoided in a van by simply moving to somewhere without them, normally higher ground or the coast.

Been meaning to do a trip for literally years but never got round to it. Away the 2nd weekend and last weekends of May. April will be a bit cold I'd have thought. Maybe might wait until September and hope for an Indian Summer :)

Next couple of weeks look great. 90% of days normally have rain, but there is a prolonged dry spell at present, and only a bit chilly at night. I once did it in a car at the end of April and had scorching temperatures.
