Hi. just registered, so greetings to all, and I hope to get a feel for the forum(s)?.

One of the first posts, I read was about computers and upgraded laptops. To which I would add a word of caution generally.

About 12 months ago. I replaced my i3 Dell. with an i7 Dell running Windows 11, and now wish I had not. The i7 processeser / Windows 11 combination will not allow the use of very many legacy programes. Originally purchased for my wife to run Crafting Programes etc;. The laptop simply refuses to load them even in "compatability" mode. After months of trying, I had this confirmed by DELL themselves in the USA. The i5 running Windows 10 can be "made" to use a few legacy programmes, with some work-a-rounds. I have managed to run a couple of legacy programmes, but only after I loaded a copy of Windows10 in Dual boot configuration.

Something to consider for anyone who is looking to change/upgrade AND like myself still uses programmes from the dark ages.

Pete

Hi Pete and welcome to Motorhomer.

We discuss many and varied subjects on here and take the wee out of each other now and then, we even have a dedicated biker section of the forum if you're into that sort of thing.

Hi and welcome from Co Antrim, as for your pc, well yes win and google used to only control/spy on the pc with win 10, but the win 11 does not allow you to load any unapproved or not bought from them stuff, best thing you can do is head over to distrowatch, com and get a copy of linux mint zorin or lite and burn it to the pc, its free and safe with no bugs/spyware, you will have to get a bypass key as win illegally tried to stop folk doing this.(y)
