Newquay Cornwall

If you have the time, take a look at Cornwall's forgotten corner: The Rame Peninsula, Whitsand Bay (my local beach) is gorgeous. Don't try this in Summer. but there's a really nice wild camping spot (locals call it 'the triangle') at GPS (50.3314, -4.2220)

Going over to Mevagissey today so see how we go , it looks lovely there ,thanks for the heads up, Chris.

When you enter Meva first carpark on left opposite where buses turn around allows overnite stops. Best to park there anyway

Thanks for that, dropped a clanger went passed that car park saw the sign road 'not suitable for caravans ' but went past , then saw the road narrow turned into the 2nd c/p went on & straight off hope I don't get a ticket as I didn't stop. We stopped at Heligan touring park on the way down & have booked 2 nights there so will park on that c/park you mentioned tomorrow and have a look round. Thanks Chris.

Thanks for that info can you park a M/H there ok ?

Parking in Mevagissey allows overnight stay in M/Home. 3.5 T Max though , Chris.
Thanks for that. I was shocked at the 3.5 tonne limit as it's also a coach park. Since we're thinking of heading that way soon, I took the liberty of asking the Willow Car & Coach Park operators the following:

Good afternoon. We were thinking of spending a day in Mevagissey later this month and stopping overnight in your car park. However, someone said that motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes were not accepted. I find that odd as you accept coaches, but I'm writing to check whether we'd be OK. Our motorhome is an Autotrail coachbuilt 7m long and MGW 3,850kg. Thanks in advance, Geoff

To which the operators replied:

Hi Geoff, you can park as big a mh as you like! There are signs around to deter lorries from entering the main car park, but campers are always welcome.
On entry, head off to the right and park in coach park or at the back of “Willow Trading”. You’ll pay on the machines, which take coins/cards/contactless. Any problems you can call me on the number below 🙂

So, the 3.5 tonne limit seems to apply to lorries but not motorhomes and those of us (like me) who have mohos that need C1 licences are welcome. Hope this clears up things.

That's good info Geoff I should have taken a pic of the sign that does say no HGV's & 3.5 T limit but you have as you say cleared it up for all M/Homes to enjoy whatever size. It also says on sign if parking o/night park behind Shop dunno if that is meant or not.Wish we had known before booking Heligan as we are staying there now till Monday £21 a night ehu , nice site though cracking Toilet/Shower Block + Laundry. Not the prettiest are they when the tides out, Chris.

Weirdly, we've just spent the afternoon in Mevy and drove past that park. Jan spotted the motorhomes and said we should check it out. Currently at the Caerhays lookout enjoying the view before heading home.
