Been a while since I attended a Cornish DA rally, but I remember one year they held several including one weekend at nearby Porth Beach, a campsite that then charged about £25 (now £59 .. £72 per night) in September and paying £7.50 a night. This was half the price Caravan Club members were paying for pitches further away from the beach. This year, they've set up a temporary holiday site (THS) from 20th March to 5th April @ £17.50 per night compared with £50 .. £67 that Porth Beach themselves are charging for the same period. Last time I was in Hendra was for the 2019 Cornish Bluegrass Festival at the beginning of September that year. At that time, either the CaMC or CCC were running a THS in one of the fields and a few festival goers had saved some money by camping there rather than in the fields Hendra had allocated to the festival. The CCC run a few rallies at the nearby Hendra Holiday Park. Great place to stay and a free land train into town each morning.
Bottom line is that both rallies and THSs can provide economical camping and can save campsite users more than the cost of joining one of the clubs.
