So yesterday I noticed that the water pressure had dropped in the motorhome and that I was only getting about half the flow rate. My motorhome has a twin impeller pump fitted and it looked like one half had packed up. I did do a few tests and removed the pump from the tank to check if it was debris blocking one of the impellers, I also checked the non-return valve to make sure it was not blocked. This morning the pump had packed up altogether. I have a smaller pump (15l/m) that I carry in the garage so I decided to fit that as a temporary measure. That pump is also seized!

Amazon is delivering a new pump tomorrow morning and I have gone for the slightly faster 25l/m pump instead of the current 19l/m, it also runs at a higher pressure 2.5bar rather 1.9bar on the old pump.

Sounds like you've got it under control... and that you'll end up with an even better system. I might pick your brains about water pumps one day... my shower is more like a slow drizzle!

That low calorie water can play hell with your pump (think what it's doing to your insides!) Sounds an easy fix though.

Hopefully you took a note of the wire connections, it is a common problem with Hymer that when people replace the water pump it ends up connected with the wrong wire to each terminal. Hymer it seems do not follow standard wire colour practice. There can also be a scenario where you need to swop the non return valve if one does not come with the new pump. This is held in place by a form of ‘easy’ release fittings, a bit like hose connectors if I remember correctly.

Did you find the old pump inadequate for your needs as obviously the new one will empty your tank quicker when having showers.

All the tap have a controllable flow rate, so that won't be an issue. The outside shower was a little underpowered.

I am happy with the flow rate now.

Luckily my shower and taps have variable output, so it makes no difference.

However...

The toilet flush is truly awesome now, it is like a whirlpool!
