Old vans

We were in the Fat Lamb Country Inn at Ravenstonedale the other night. It has loads of classic car memorabilia and one of the plaques on the wall was a Rootes Moffat Run plate but can’t recall the year.

I’ve got at least 10 of them in my garage! Oh, and a couple more of old vans there.

not sure about vans, but there is a annual Vintage Car Rally in Selkirk. There is also a good show arranged by the BVAC at Thirlston Castle in Lauder, usually at the first Weekend in June. (https://bvac.org.uk/p/bvac-classic)
Camping is available at both.

I think the BVAC have an age cut-off of 1999 for entrants? could be enough members here with qualifying Campers to have a group stand?

Nostalgia ain’t wot it used to be.
My Dad had a Morris J2 van. From what I remember it was noisy, freezing in winter, roasting in summer. Uncomfortable at any other time. Yes, I know, I’ve got no soul.

Driving through the Spanish interior .
Last night I was mulling over the idea of putting a power chip in Demi. The hills here had me dropping down to 4th on some of these hills.
Remembering the old Morris, and if that had all of the weight of a camper van, I had the vision of having to reverse up these hills, all the windows open, ear plugs in, wearing only my Y fronts. ( Sitting on a towel). Being overtaken by donkeys.?

You are quite right. folk reminise about the cars they had when young or their dad had but if they had the opportunity of swapping? not on your nelly!

Oh for the good old days when we huddled around the fire at home as no heating anywhere else in the house, or when I stayed with my Oma (granny) in her house in Germany and had to walk along the pig sty in the middle of the night to use the unlit outdoors toilet.
Oh them were the days

Can’t remember if it was before or after the J2. He had a Austin A90 shooting brake. Timber back end. No idea why. Maybe still steel shortages. Went like stink, stopping was an act of faith
