Overnighting in the Poitiers area

Camping le Futuriste near Poiteirs are no longer in the ACSI scheme and as such they are now charging €29.20 for a night in January. We usually stay there en route to France however we won't be at that price.

I note that there are several aires in the area which look to be more than suitable. Has anyone stayed at an aire (or elsewhere) in the Poitiers area in winter? If so could you recommend/link to it?

Thanks

We make our break a little further north at Meung sur Loire, Graham. Free Aire with Grey water and cassette emptying (also single mains toilet in same area, wheelchair accessible and kept clean), with €3 for 10 mins fresh water refill. Leccy expensive at €4 per hour (was free up until 2022 ...). 10 mins drive from A10 peage, and Chateau/old town pleasant stroll (mobility scooter would work quite hard but doable). OR you could do the 200m each way run to the Boulanger for diet killing bread and patisseries

Only one I know is on the outskirts of our village of Archigny, free aire with cassette/grey water dump, electric is free too. Village to Poitiers airport is approx 40 min drive. Not far from village is an old Abbel with campsite, no idea of cost or if open at this time of year .

Chauvigny has free air too near top of the town. Personally, my choice would be Chauvigny, nice town with supermarkets, eateries etc.

we have stayed at most of these over the years .cheyenne

do you recognize the m/h in the photo at chaunay that was when we joined campercontact & we sent them the stopover as it wasn't on their database back in 2012 all so we sent them nersac Aire not on their database at the time we got free electric but not now .dont use them now campingcar park plus a few campercontact. cheyenne

We stop at Vivonne, about 26 mins South from Poitiers down the N10. Free parking in village, waste emptying, water and electric available. Quiet, even though in centre. There are other car parks there where people stop too.

Thanks

Thanks for that. (y)

We will be self contained and have water on board so not too worried about that. We just want somewhere safe and quiet to park up for the night.

We also bought 3x8 litres bottles of water from the hypermarket for top ups and fill 3 X 2 litre bio washing liquid containers to rinse the cassette at aires where the water is off

I try not to drink bottled water: it can be unhealthy.

And I never rinse the cassette out.
