If you crave all this things familiar, there's a supermarket in Almancil, on the main drag, called THE FOOD SHOP.
It's massive and packed with UK brands of goods.
Pork pies, Bisto, Bacon, even Tide and Omo. Andrex toilet rolls... The lot.

The deal is that they buy cheap stocks direct from the producers, that has a limited sell by date.

We bought Foodstuffs with about 6 weeks use by dates.
Even delicious Bury Black puddings.

Well worth a Shufty.

Don't you like Portuguese Morcela, Farinheira, Alheira Salpicão or Chouriço? 🤪 Morcela is the closest in appearance to your Black pudding but I don't know about the taste 😁

This shop is set up for the extremely rich, who fly in their private jets for a golf weekend .
They have staff to make sure that all is perfect, when they arrive in their villas, in the Golden Triangle.
They have no time to leave the course to explore the himterland.
That's where this shop comes in.
There's no way that any of us, living out in the sticks, would make a 40 mile round trip , to do our weekly shop.
A quick visit, late November is enough for us plebs.

The mince pies were fantastic.

Ps,
@HTF..
We've been all over Portugal for the last 25 years.
The only traditional food that we would avoid, is the tripe.

We've not been to a kebab, burger joint and only had to take odd timid visitors to a pizza place, once.

We occasionally go with friends for a genuine Brummy curry and the odd Chinese.
But we've eaten every part of a pig.... Apart from it's grunt.

Ditto about tripe and pig . Though found the nose inedible . Even my greyhound rejected it .
Don't miss any form of British food whilst away but when returning can't get a fry-up or Sunday roast quick enough
