Paloma water heater repair

Hi all,

My paloma water heater is leaking badly in the van. I think it may have frozen and cracked inside. Can anybody recommend a repairer? I’m in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

worth having a look yourself ,if only to take the cover off and spot the split . if it's easily accessible a plumber could possibly fix it

If you find the hole, you may be able to solder it...

Take the cover off, it'll be a split in the 'wrap around' copper tube. I repaired mine 20 years ago in a Talbot Camelot by squeezing the split together with pliers and then soldering the much smaller split...leak sorted, and taught me the importance of draining down in frosty weather. Hope yours is as straightforward.

Maybe it will fit and replace. It has a 100mm flue but you can get a 100-90mm flue adaptor on ebay if that will retro fit your system.

Hi there Im new to all this motorhome/RV life I've recently brought a Talbot express it has Paloma water heater but during testing found if pilot light goes out the gas supply continues is this the case with these? Or should something shut off gas supply? Seems very dangerous if gas continues flowing out without any knowledge. Thanks in advance for any help

Hi and welcome, to my insufficient knowledge, any gas appliance should shut down without a flame present to keep the TC working so it either has a significant problem or someone has been messing with it.

Not sure if we have any gas chaps on here.

Definitely should turn the gas off after a few seconds. Get it looked at.
