I'm fortunate and can usually see 'The Mail' a mile away and avoid it.

Many of the well known British names, especially in Air and Oil Filters, are made by the Chinese. The Company no longer exists and the Brand name was bought by Chinese Companies. When i worked for toyota it was found that aftermarket oil filters were causing wear to 1000cc and 1200 engines as the toyota filter was upside down at an angle, it had a valve which held oil for the first start, the after market ones did not and cranks started to get noisey, some stuff is ok but some very very bad and from top name to.
Yes, people foolishly believe a brand name stands for quality. Generally it stands for profit. Many of the well known British names, especially in Air and Oil Filters, are made by the Chinese. The Company no longer exists and the Brand name was bought by Chinese Companies.
