Planning to go Lake Bled, Slovenia!

Hi all,
We’re planning a trip to Lake Bled Slovenia next June 2020 and would welcome advice on routes and detours, places to stop, places to see etc, and actually anything we should avoid and be careful of. Planning to be away about a month and only about a week at Lake Bled unless we feel compelled to stay longer
Thanks in advance.....

Lake Bled is stunning, however it is very commercialised which may get a trifle irritating once you seen the main attractions. Nearby Lake Bohinj further up the valley is much quieter and more laid back and has a nice campsite right on the lake shore.
An interesting route into or out of Slovenia is over the Predil Pass, go down to Bovec then follow the Soca Valley and continue over the pass to Kranska Gora, before heading east to Lake Bled. This will take you over interesting mountain passes and through one of the most beautiful river gorges in Slovenia. Only the size of Wales and with a population of only around 2 million Slovenia is one of our favourite countries. We can’t resist any excuse to go there, and the journey always gives an excuse to explore any number of Alpine Passes on route via Austria/Italy or both. You should enjoy it.

Slovenia is a lovely place to visit. I spent three weeks there in April/May this year. Never got to Lake Bled as there was heavy snow forcast in early May. Ljubljana the capital is a compact welcoming city. Lots of interesting caves and castles to visit.

Thanks for both replies, we’ll consider all replies in our plans...

Agree re Bled. Over crowded campsite. Bohinj much nicer ... walk up to Slap (waterfall) at end.
We spent 5 weeks on Slovenia. Check out
Idrija with its mercury mine (some strange folk parked up next to us ... Barge1914!!!)
Lipica liperzanners- try to go when a display on
Vekina planina- cable car and chair lift to top
Partizanska bolinja franska near cerkna
postojna caves
Soteska vintgar gorge walk - go early to avoid coaches.
