Quarantine campsite.

Has this question been asked before? On return where and how can people quarantine in a van. The Gov info says temp accommodation is OK but I guess it's dependant on a cl site or campsite offering quarantine pitches. Taps, elsan and food delivery are sticking points.

As far as I am aware their are no campsites that qualify. I have heard (so may be dubious) that it’s the address on you license/V5 and work from that. If you can’t give and address you will be at then it’s hotels and the like at your expense. I have also heard (so same proviso) they will check sometime during the quarantine period.

we really need someone to post who has had to do it that lives in their van but I don’t personally know any apart from the normal lockdown.

Wonder whether parking on a friend's drive would be allowed? That would sort the food and water, could be left outside....the elsan emptying might be harder to sort!
When driving back during lockdown through France and spain, we stocked up van with two weeks food...tinned and long life for second week, also lots of extra water. Didn't have to get out except for fuel at card only pump. Took much less time but we went straight home and used food up while self isolating in uk..

Thankfully from the motorhomers point of view UK have so far taken a very relaxed approach to quarantine requirements, and even those with no suitable accommodation to go to have been given a choice of hotel. In other countries arrivals have been required to quarantine in a hotel room selected by the authorities. I know people who have been infected by this as such hotels have been serviced by staff with the virus. There have even been deaths amongst people quarantined in this way.
Whilst this pandemic continues there are likely to be very rapid changes in policy affecting international travellers, it’s really not possible to just carry on as normal. For those without an address to stay in in the UK a selection of suitable hotels is probably the safest solution. Very inconvenient but if it prevents possible transmission then worth it.

I ‘think’ the friends drive would be accepted. I could easily manage two weeks with cassettes if on my own but may get dodgy if Caz was with me. I have 2 cassettes (the old 20litre ones I think C200) and a 25 litre black drum I could use in emergency as a holding tank. I could also repurpose one of the 25 litre water drums but opening a bit small on them...

If you have your food delivered and wear gloves when emptying and filling and use your own facilities a campsite would be ok.

Yes. "
How to self-isolate in your accommodation
You should self-isolate in one place for the full 14 days, where you can have food and other necessities delivered, and should stay away from others unless you travelled to the UK with them. You must self-isolate at the address you provided on the public health passenger locator form.

This can include:

  • your own home
  • staying with friends or family
  • a hotel or other temporary accommodation
You should not have visitors, including friends and family, unless they are providing:

  • emergency assistance
  • care or assistance, including personal care
  • medical assistance
  • veterinary services
  • certain critical public services
You cannot go out to work or school or visit public areas. You should not go shopping. If you require help buying groceries, other shopping or picking up medication, you should ask friends or relatives or order a delivery.

In England, you must only exercise within your home or garden. You cannot leave your home to walk your dog. You will need to ask friends or relatives to help you with this." From https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...how-to-self-isolate-when-you-travel-to-the-uk

Is it me or is that contradictory? Mind I find just about everything the government say on Covid contradictory lol.
You can stay with friends or family so presumably you could park up on their drive/land. But then you shouldn’t have contact with them? But they can help with shopping, supplies, meds (empty cassette)?

It is confusing but I think the missing word is "physical" contact. Distanced contact ok to deliver stuff, leave outside and go.

Sorry people do quarantine on campsites, many people live in their vans with no ability to go inside four walls.
Also many people don’t even bother to quarantine.
Surely it’s try your best and if a campsite is it as the wording says or other temporary accommodation.

If there was a real reason for it and not just a 'Grant Shapps edict ' issued 28 hours before coming into play It might be more believable.
why do they say 4.00 am next day.

Why not with immediate effect but give people 24 hours unofficially b4 rigidly enforcing.
If it’s necessary it’s necessary!!!
