Looking at buying early next year, but are worried about fitting in parking spaces when we go out as when we go away we generally use a site for dinner and sleeping only. We like visiting National trust and similar properties, and have a blue badge for car parking. What size do people find can fit in most parking spaces, especially disabled bays? I know some places have camper van spaces but they are normally not close to the entrance etc.. any advice gratefully received as cannot afford to make a mistake.

Our 5.4m campervan (not motorhome) works well for this. Supermarkets, parking on the road side in town and cities etc. No problem. I think 6m would start to be a problem.

I think it may end up being a campervan due to length but otherwise no preference. The only thing is need a loo inside and a bed that is easily accessible, eg converting sofas not up a ladder/steps.

We are 8.5m and fit in any two front to back spaces with room to spare.

Also have a blue badge which is a pretty good park anywhere token 👍

Having had a MWB van which was great, get a bigger one lol

Our coachbuilt is 6m and we can normally find a suitable space in supermarket carparks, sometimes using the overhang over grass. We also have blue badges and have found these useful at national trust properties.
A problem with such a relatively small van is finding room to carry mobility aids, but it can be done.

Standard parking spaces in England are defined as 2.4m x 4.8m. As mentioned above, some spaces are more generous.

A trick most of us use is to reverse over a grassed area to make the 4.8m slightly longer, but watch out for arnco, high kerbs, or steeply sloping banks.

6 mtr is ideal for parking, only downside is the shorter the van the less storage space. There are plenty of different styles you need to go and look .

Things to consider.
How many of you will travelling? Do you get on when things get awkward? And without being personal, are you big people.
If the answers are :- No more than 3, Yes and finally, not so big. Then a PVC (Panel Van Conversion on a Ducato, Sprinter Crafter ) should suit you.
We found it best if one was standing, cooking, dressing whatever, the others should be seated.

A number plate mounted Garmin BC40 camera, that connects automatically via Bluetooth to the Garmin Camper 780 SatNav [and which is detachable for security and small enough to tuck into the driver door pocket] is invaluable, and cheaper than repairing the rear end of the M/Home ... £124.99 plus 2 x AA batteries, money well spent

Our C class is 6.1m so no issue with parking, we usually reverse park to avoid idiots blocking us in, I do carry a Mobility Scooter to get around towns etc, but in most places we just use the blue badge and park next to entrances, many places have disabled access and some even have scooters or wheelchairs to use including NT houses.
