Resin driveway

Do any of the members here have any experience of having a resin drive put in?

The better half has suggested that she wants our existing concrete double driveway replaced with resin.

Personally I’m not convinced it can be durable enough to tolerate me parking 4 tonnes of MH on it on one place for weeks on end. It will also have a 2 wheel box bike trailer parked alongside permanently also.

In talking to a local window fitter who was in checking out our new windows he said he had no knowledge apart from the companies seem to spring up and go out of business. Is the product good enough long term?

We looked into it last year it's very expensive and it has to be layed properly or will lift and crack if you choose to get it done I would check Their previous work

Seems to be quite popular where I live in Lancashire, unfortunately I haven’t seen any resin driveways with a motorhome parked on them.

My brother in law had one laid, and while he didn't have any problems with deterioration, he did have a bad fall, not caused by build up of moss or slime, it was well maintained.

I’ve seen some of the first ones done about 7 years old now and don’t think they’ll last seen some cracks in them that lets water penetrate a sure sign for problems down the rd my opinion working with a similar type resin for Roofs is that it needs expansion joints which I haven’t seen in any. I was thinking of doing my own priced up just the materials and it’s a fortune even for me being able to buy at trade prices so think you would have to be carful who done work as it would be tempting to lay thin to save on materials.

2ft slabs laid on 4 inch concrete will take a jumbo jet,forget the res.

I once spoke to a fella about them.
Supposedly guaranteed for long period , 20 years I think, which as long as insurance backed should be ok.
Supposed to weed free, although not grass I seen to recall, apparent grass cab get through where weeds can’t!, perhaps weed killer included in product!!!!!

Our hospital as it laid at the public entrance and it’s breaking up and been patched up a few times.

If you drive on and reverse off, it can be durable. If you turn around on driveway, forget it.

Have you considered immpressed concrete, I had this put down19 years ago and just have a couple of hairline cracks.

To be honest, we already have concrete laid down that has been there maybe 30 years. It’s solid enough with a few cracks but my wife thinks it’s unsightly and she wants it put right. There’s nothing wrong, it’s a bl**dy driveway, but of course I'm in the wrong for putting up with it.

Lay concrete then when almost half set put down coloured stones <pink green or amber> and roll in,looks fab.
