Retirement with 2020 and COVID vision

Ahhhh, Domme. I remember that walled town very well.

The signs to the aire seemed to take a convoluted route that felt miles out of our way. In fact when we finally arrived, we ended up a very short walk into town. Brilliant.

I hope you have better weather than us, as it was torrential rain when we visited, and the steps down to the Caves were closed being unsafe.

I look forward to your photos of the place, and many thanks for posting your journey.

Stayed at the campsite in Cénac below Domme. €13 per night seemed fair compared to the aire 100 yds away charging €11.50.
Very hot 34 degree walk up into Domme. Nice 360 views of the Dordogne valley and river from up there. Great swim in the river afterwards. Caves closed for usual 2 hour lunch so didn’t wait. Off to Cahors tomorrow we think.EA45681C-BBBE-466F-96C9-0BEA15EFE9D4.jpeg521EC416-DEE6-4490-801D-593268FE31DA.jpeg1C95270B-1087-407F-9C5B-E814253C8EE8.jpeg

Arrived in Cahors for a wildcamp by the river, cloudy but still 30 degrees. It’s got a stunning bridge and an unusual clock that runs on chrome marbles. Had a yummy chicken curry in the slow cooker which did its magic whilst we wandered about the town. Off to the market tomorrow morning and check out the old town lots of secret gardens to discover.

Hot again tomorrow so we’ll probably stay by the river to canoe and swim then move on later in the day.
Just met a retired Scottish couple who have lived in a property in Spain for 15yrs. They are touring France in their 8m Twin wheel motorhome to escape the Spanish heat🥵 . Seems they won’t be doing that until Sunday when it drops to 26.🥶.

There’s a phrase which goes.. when in Rome ... I’m not sure about this example🤔. So we enjoyed a swim instead.

Thanks for the pictures and updates Steve , looks like you are enjoying yourselves (y)
Learning to slow down and not move on unless we’re bored Jeff. Portugal will still be there in a month or a year. A new way of life for us, we’re cherishing the moments. Sorry to miss so many meets with you though.

Called in at Mende en route. Shirl bought a potted plant. Might be a problem there.

Then onto Florac in the Gorges de Tarn area.
