Revitalising you old hi fi(if you have one).

I have my MP3s on a thumb drive for the car, and my phone is connected to BT in the van. Quality in the car is pretty good, van is feckin awful, but it's handy to be able to hear Googly Mappy directions.

'The big buggers'? ... :ROFLMAO: . The DALI is 900mm long, about 150mm high, and about 150mm deep. Weighs in at over 7kg. It was a 'no holiday allowed because of COVID Lockdown, so let's spend the money on a speaker to improve the TV audio output' purchase!

My dad made some large speaker enclosure for a workmate of mine in the early seventies, he was well into his sound systems, just happened to visit him probably 30 years later and he was still using them, from memory they were about a foot square and about 30 inches tall. My friend installed all the tweeters, mid range and base speakers together with cross over units, whilst they were not professionally made the did sound good.

I used to pick up part-built speakers as a back load from B&W in Lansing to bring up to Bradford for finishing.
Bowers & Wilkins kit has a good reputation [and matching price], but, when I was looking at the DALI stuff, B&W didn't have any stuff 'off the shelf'. DALI sponsor groups of Danish musicians, undertake their recording sessions and tweak the finished product to sound how the group would want it to be, then tuned the speakers that the public buy, to reproduce that sound. It seems that the engineers spend n hours to tune the speakers to produce the characteristics of the studio recorded group music, and it translates really well to the home audio set up. My elder son purchased a B&O soundbar a couple of weeks before I bought the DALI [neither of us knew that we were each in the market for speakers!] and, IIRC, he paid about £150 more than I did for the DALI, and he reckons the B&O take second place. 'Plug'n' Play' the DALI is NOT, and setting it up again after disconnection for decorating et seq, is a total PITA, as is the need to connect the TV and Speaker via Optical cable [had to buy 3m version for the TV wall mounting, and wait for it to be shipped by Amazon from Germany], but the fannying around is worth it!

Before and After photos attached after the new lounge/dining room and hallway floor was finished this morning ...

I still have a pair of old Castle Monitors in the garage, them was thought to be quite good. Certainly sounded it to me although the neighbours may not have agreed :)

This is the one I plug into my old stereo system in shed, it converts sound to be able to be inputted to bluetooth.
Cheap as chips and reliable, had mine for about 8yrs.

I meant to put this in here, but I couldn't find the Fred.

Nearly as expensive as the Linn Flagship Speakers. B&W gets their lower cost ranges made in China but the 800 series are UK made. All Linn products are UK designed and manufactured. My ears can tell the difference between MP3 and HiFi but I doubt they can distinguish between £5,000 speakers and £50,000 speakers.

You must have very well trained ears as it isn't easy to detect, due to the way it is done.
