Rotten floor

Hi all. Lunar roadstar 800. 2009. Looking under the mhome just behind the passenger door near the middle ( driver. Passenger). There is an area of wood. Mine is rotten. Crumbling. First I have heard of wood underfloor in a motorhome. You can put your hand in it and pull out the crumbling wood. Any one any ideas. Replaceable. Dangerous. Easy to do. Or. If it was dangerous I would of thought that the mot inspection would of seen and failed. But then again who am I to think say. Any relevant views would be appreciated. Please try and stick to the subject. No rambling etc. I never was a mod. I was a betweener. Putting sugar in mods scooters and rockers bikes then stepping back and watching. The mods rockers fighting ramsgate sea front. Fire brigade hosing them down and forcing them into the sea. Ooh sorry I digress. Oops. Brian

Now I will start by saying I don't know much at all about the construction of motorhome bodys, so bear that in mind when reading the next sentence ....

The wood I saw that was sodden and flaking looked like it was a strip of wood (rather than from a sheet) and kind of looked like it could have been some kind of sacrifical strip rather than structural or forming the floor. But I obviously didn't dig in deep with a screwdriver either.
Certainly not something to ignore (which is why of course I told you about it) but I am wondering (hoping!) it may not be an indication of the whole floor but something very localised and simply fixed?

I wouldn't see this as an MOT Failure or even an advisory as not structural to the chassis (although I would be amazed if this wasn't pointed out to the owner verbally when the MOT was carried out (just as I did when I saw it) as while not structural to the vehicle, it is important to the motorhome section).

I know this is from a while ago. I'm getting my ducks in a row for motorhome ownership and having a good local repair person would be awesome. Would you still recommend?

A majority of wood used in MH construction has not been treated. Its just plain wood. It's hard to imagine that it is just the floor that is wet the water has to come from somewhere so perhaps you need to be looking further up. As for the Mot I don't think it's part of it. They only check the chassis is OK.
