RWG MOBILE DATA GOING?

I ignored the poor reviews and got a monthly 20GB data SIM from RWG last year. It's on the EE network, and is re-badged from Gamma Communications. It's been faultless until today, when my router sent on a text from Gamma to say it was being disconnected in 30 days.

The old questions about RWG came to my mind: are they going under? Will they keep taking my money? I'll get our phone PAC codes today just in case.

Anyone got any good ideas for year-round data SIM with 50GB and maybe half that for free EU roaming. Must be EE or O2 at a pinch?

Note that voice plans tend to be cheaper than data only. You can change the plan from month to month as required and even put it on hold for a few months if required. EU Roaming is 12GB/month unless you pay for an add-on; I use Réglo Mobile when in France and reduce the Smarty data package accordingly just to cover time in UK prior/post crossing and a few hours in France prior to getting the Réglo Mobile SIM.

FWIW, they wouldn't let me change from a data-only plan to a voice plan and I had to create a second account and get a new SIM.

Thanks guys, but as I said, it must be EE or O2. Sorry to shout. My benighted village has no 3 signal, but EE has 5G although its coverage map says not!

I got fed up with RWG so moved to lebara which has been great. But it's on vodaphone.
I went on the MSE site and got a good deal from there.
If you look at the filters and choose o2 or EE then you can see your options.

Thanks, but been there, done that! Produces not a single data-only result, and all the T&C's state not for routers, only dongles, tablets etc. Though how they can tell, I don't know. Seldom have 2 devices online at the same time!

I use 1p mobile which is on EE as we are in the same situation as you. We use 200gb for £18 per month as we stream a lot. I have had no problem with 1pbeen using them for 18 months I was with RWG before who cut me off for no reason whilst away touring Scotland.

Talkmobile for us, but that too is Vodaphone.

RWG are a virtual network on Now who are a virtual.network on EE. I'm not clear where Gamma Telecomms comes into it. Perhaps RWG use them as well?
Have you asked RWG Support what's going on?

Does Three claim to have signal, or do they admit to not covering a whole village?

They claim a signal, but when I moved here I grabbed free SIMs from all the providers. Three was very poor to non-existant. Voda nil!

But things change, and a free SIM from 3 is on its way. I'll be delighted if it's a solid indoor signal and I can get an ID deal!

Are they branded 'Now mobile' with an RWG sticker on top? The ones I have (about half a dozen) are.
No, they're branded Gamma with an RWG sticker! Maybe their Three data Sims are from Now?
I finally got an explanation from RWG: Gamma have pulled the plug on the arrangement so they advised me to cancel my RWG data account.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and replies. My Three SIM shows the same signal strength as my EE one, so I'm free! Can't see a data-only SIM on the iD website. Have they ever called out anyone for use in a router? I'm looking at you here jeffmossy and sandya

Have a look at Spusu. Uses EE, can change plan monthly. Just used faultlessly in Europe for 3 months. 30gb data unltd calls/txts in UK, 100min calls/100 txts in Europe. Many plans. Good support, also an app.

All my RWG sims are EE, except one, which I think is Vodafone (bit I may be misremembering that). None are 'data only' but several are pre-paid with a monthly data allowance for five years. Need to top up to make calls or send texts.
