Hi There
I’m really looking for the best advice on what is ideal to secure my Motorhome? I have only had it 3 weeks and somebody has just knocked the door about it! Just want to make sure she’s safe!
Thanks
Gemma

hope I've not bored you 🤞

As I am sure others will point out a determined thief will take pretty much anything. However I don't want you having sleepless nights over it.

There are plenty of ways to make your vehicle unatractive to thieves, most are opportunist and will be put off if it is a lot of work to steal.

If it is parked on your drive think about an external camera. It terms of physical security you can use steering wheel locks, pedal locks and wheel locks. An alarm and/or tracker are a good investment and can help lower your insurance. I use a combination of the above, think of it as layers of security.

If you want more information on specific devices brands recommendations etc you have found a brilliant group for help.

Bull dog wheel clamp , but a pain to fit . insurance recommended , many anti theft devices are just a minor irritant to professonal thieves , causing expensive damage and repairs after removal ,only professionals, would nick 50 k motorhome , don't give insurance companies a chance to wriggle out of a claim , treat both sets of keys .Iike gold never leave in unattended van .If camping with a friend i leave my spare key's in their van . If you can't produce a full set of key's insurance can claim you left them in the ignition .

Great - thank you so much!! I am thinking of Bulldog Centaur adjustable. Does anyone have this?
Thanks
🙏

“Best price in the east, Thieves dead to say the least.”

If I’m wild camping I carry a hammer under the bed. CCTV camera wireless and CCTV stickers work well so far when not onboard.

This is what I have on mine a great visual ade not cheap but Thatcham rated.View attachment 58627

+ one for disklok.
They're inexpensive, easy and quick to fit and remove - and a great visual deterrent.
Also a lot easier to carry around in the Moho than a wheel clamp.
They come in different sizes so check your steering wheel size before purchase.
More details on their website.

Colin 🙂🙂🙂

Another vote for diskloc, plus I have deadlocks fitted to the cab doors, and a brightlock fitted to the Hab door handle......only suitable for the older style handles......usually British rather than European conversions.

Great - maybe you could let me know what you are asking for it. Thanks 🙏
£150 but if you join Motorhomer.com I will discount that by the cost of the membership fee. Can't say fairer than that. Also depends on which part of the country you live.

Just realised the the no travel rule at the moment could be a problem, i really really don't want to post it as it weighs 20kg.

Yes, I agree they CAN be a pain to fit. However, I came up with a dodge that makes it simple, effective, quick and it works every time.
Simply measure the distance from the bottom edge of the central disc when it is centered on the wheel, to the floor and cut a piece of wood to this size. Any old piece will do. I used a bit about 2 inches wide.
When fitting the clamp I keep everything together but slackened and the arms are free to move about.
Place the arms in around the wheel starting with the top. Place the bit of wood under the disk propping it up in the centre of the wheel.
Position and adjust the arms tight to the tyre/wheel and tighten central nut.
Remove the piece of wood and store it with the spanner. The external red lock on cover fits easily every time.
