Who's a little mischief then... ?

I have just phoned their Head Office on: 01937 832225.

I spoke to a jolly Yorkshire lass, most warm and welcoming.

Told her we'd be travelling up from Portugal, to various parts of a Northern England, over the summer., visiting relatives, friends and old Leeds neighbours. I was.looking for nice pubs to enjoy my favourite beer in, and entertain loved ones, while journeying.

She put me through to a chap named, Christian.
He was Quite enthusiastic... Until I mentioned that we would be in an Ambulance sized motorhome.... Would we be able to overnight on any car parks, so we could have a decent drink ?

His voice turned deadly cold... " Oh no, we don't allow caravans ", he almost spat.

Even when I pointed out that we are in a self contained motor home... He wasn't impressed.

I told him that I thought that was very short sighted.. And said goodbye.

I do sincerely hope that the poor chap is not inundated with similar phone calls.
That would spoil his day. Especially if the calls were from polite, reasonable motorhomers like what we are.

From what I remember when I worked for Sam Smiths, Mr H. would not allow anyone to stay on the carparks overnight. There were one or two pubs that he allowed to rent out parking spaces to locals but he wanted the income from them.

That was their secret of success, but times and personnel change.

Perhaps, if their customer service department was to be made aware of the number of polite enquiries arriving on this subject, they might see a need to revise their ideas ? eh?

Times may change but Mr H never will. He is also the customer service department.

We'll just have to put the motorhomer's curse on him, then :

. " May you have water ingress and flush your cassette cap down the Elsan point. ! ".

Just use Britstops, also many pubs are happy for overnight stays if you buy a meal or a drink, its not a problem, at least I found it wasn't when I recently toured from Somerset to Scotland via wales.

Park round the corner and walk there?
The Sammy I used most was the Crown in Wetherby, it didn't have a car park.

Haven't been there for years.. Is it still trading?

Hi Guys,
I've found some great pubs to stay at, I found them on search for sites (not a very imaginative name, but a very useful web site).
Regards,
Paul
