Satnav recommended one please

once you get used to a certain Satnav make it is tricky to change :) I am also a Garmin user (Camper 660) and don't really like to use anything else either.

If you are not wedded to a particular type like Oppy or I am, Google maps on phone/tablet or via Android Auto works well and you can likely have that setup inexpensively and have a tablet for general use as well (or use an existing one of course).
I totally disagree with Google maps, it will take you off a road to put you back on for no reason. Sometimes it will not take you to google dropped pins that were created in Google even when you can see the destination by eye. I am always having a go at friends who use google maps when we travel together as it will take them random places they have no need to go to.

Besides, Google maps don’t allow you to add dimensions and weights which the op wants 👍

I do use google maps for some things but would never use as my main sat Nav

I love my Tomtom go camper but it’s a few years old now but I’m sure there an updated version.
Well there is, the Tomtom Go Camper Max. I did think about one last year but didn't go ahead then because I was put off as you cannot upload your own POI, however there are is a huge number of POI on the database which is highly comprehensive and there are ADAC and other campsite listings included Having thought about that I decided to buy one last week because on reflection any POI you upload will be static whereas if you use SFS to get POI details you just input the details and if you want make them one of 'My Places" same thing with My LPG. com so you are always going to get up to date information. The unit has a 6 in screen and is lightning fast and sharp, instant switch on and very fast routing. So far I am very happy with it, it beats the older camper version hands down and although you dont get lifetime traffic and speed cams at least you get 12 months worth. It also warns of ULEZ zones which is a bonus. and the price has come down on Amazon to £317 and of course if you buy on Amazon you have a month to try it and can send it back no questions asked.

Thanks but I want one for campers that you can put your sizes in.
Never found that very helpful. Most narrow roads do not have legal width limits and are not detected by the map software or the navigator. If I find the navigator trying to send me down anything illegal or suspiciously narrow I just drive on past and go with re-routing. I generally spend a few minutes reviewing the navigator route before setting off. If the route involves suspicious bends or is using unclassified roads I look at the satellite view and Google Street Scene. Street Scene is really helpful.

I highlighted Navpal a few years ago on a similar thread because it seemed good value. I see the price has not changed much.

My only reservation now is I am not sure about the support. There is no dedicated Navpal website and the updates use a site called Navisolve and this involves giving a phone number for someone to call you back to tell you if there is an update for your device. There may be an option on the device to update automatically?

Apparently you send an email from the user guide for an update link. Good Navpal tutorial here
