I used a polystyrene box and customised it to accommodate a cast iron Dutch oven with one of those polyurethane gap filler doofus. Now I can start the cooking early in the day and put the pot in the box to continue cooking until dinner time with no more fuel used. The same principle as the straw hot box from my Boy Scout days and a minimal cost upcycling project.Sounds really good Sue. I've still got my Wonderbag but haven't used it much... maybe I should give it another try.
I couldn't use anything 12v on the move because all power to the hab area is cut off as soon as I turn the ignition, except the relay to the fridge of course.
I was talking to Wanderlust - Paul and Ruth - recently and they've got a Mr D's thermal cooker that looks amazing. You start it off on the stove but then it keeps cooking for up to 7 hours afterwards without power. Lovely product but very expensive at around £100.
