snowbirds 26

Just read on Mikkis place to Stay Facebook page that Processional Ceremonial Caterpillars have been spotted breaking out of their nests yesterday in the pine trees near the rear entrance.
Probably appearing in many popular wooded areas, TAKE GREAT CARE!

We're in Silves at the moment warm and sunny.
Ken organised a BBQ yesterday for us all, from 5 till about 8.30.
It's a hard life down here but we're doing our best.
Not jealous, not jealous, not jealous!
Are you all in the centre of town at Algoz? (S4S)

Howdy campers. Update on our european bimbling. We left the UK on 8 Jan and were lucky to miss/outrun all the storms, floods and devastation across much of europe. We've had/are having a great time with Smuj travelling the coast of Spain. It's not been the best year weatherwise (before we left Spain we'd had 4 "shorts days" out of the 44 days away 😱) but we then crossed into Portugal to wall to wall sunshine, which is continuing 😃. Hope all you happy campers abroad are having good weather now, and those at home aren't too cold 🙈🤣. Warm hugs from Smuj, Susan and Paul (in order of cuteness) 🙈. Take care guys.
PS: We are currently in our happy place/piece of paradise .... Praia dos Tomates (Tomatoes Beach). We waxed lyrical about this place last year so we won't keep on. BFN .... just popping down to the beach for a swim 🤪.

we visited jeff’s kitchen in silves he says (it’s so cheap can’t afford to cook in the van ) cue one out of focus selfie , the menu economique for 9 of us bread & olives choice of mains pork steaks pork chops various. fish or chicken followed by a lovely selection of sweets offered coffee then given a port washed down with 24 pints 2 half litres of wine and a pint of cider totaled €132 , by my reckoning we only paid for the drinks the food must have been free.

As Arther Askey may have said. “You lucky people “.

Showing me age again. The Glums last week. Talking to my son last week, it was, “This is Intelligence speaking “ from The Navy Lark.
If I start on ITMA, someone put me out of my misery.

Last full day for us, sunshine in Ontanenda aire... €7 with EHU 👍
Going out for a walk and mooch, hopefully lunch if anywhere is open today. The bar we visited last night for ""reconnaissance" is closed today! Ah well at least the beer was cold 😁

Many of those are available on Radio 4 Extra, on BBC Sounds, Del.
The pictures are always better on the radio.

It was Tommy Trinder - he had better legs ...😁. And, in tribute to the latest UK ex-political figure to fall from grace, a Julian & Sandy from 'Round the Horne', where Julian is standing for Parliament:

' Oh, it's Mister 'Orne, how nice to harder yer dolly old eek again! Rules is standing for Parliament, you know - come on in and shake 'and with your prospective Member ...'😁

Arrived at Lierganes around 1/2 hour ago. The spaces on the railway side are all closed for rebuilding the wall alongside the track so only about 10-12 short Vans on the other side. Morelo hell and a complete lack of Concorde, says I with a snigger 😁

Santander to Portsmouth Ferry tomorrow evening. Full lpg tanks now and a final diesel top up tomorrow so that we can make it to Asda Oldbury for the fill up to reach Fife

One of my favourites would be “ I’m sorry, I’ll read that again”.
Forerunner, probably of The Goodies.
'I say, I say, who was that terrapin I saw your with last night?'
'That was no terrapin - that was my old teacher; she tortoise' ... 😁

And then there was the episode that almost got the programme banned for material that was homophobic, sexist, racist, and just about every other 'ist that offended every known grouping, but brilliantly written!

E.g. Robinson Crusoe sketch when the companion appears, and says in a Lenny Henry Caribbean accent, ' Hello, I'm Man Friday'; to which Crusoe replied, 'Ooh, what are you the rest of the week, duckie'

Then the sketch about the rape and pillage of the English language, featuring a certain Miss Pro Nunciation, a female of doubtful repute

The sketch that featured the Black (k)night who fell was less than subtle, Sir R*st*s etc, etc. Hugely non-PC, but not targeted at any grouping or individual, just a phenomenal harvest of dreadful ( and therefore brilliant) puns crammed into 30 minutes of comedy brilliance
