Sounds like the God's may have been kind to you.
I hope all goes well and you're back on the road soon.
As for the insurance, I think they should just pay up but life isn't that simple but fingers crossed you settle for an amicable amount.
 
Heading South tomorrow (Sun 22nd March) towards Portugal.
Of all those already down there, is anybody in desperate need of half a tube of Sikoflex 522
