I cannot see why it would blow INTO the cassette, I'll search for info on the thetford one.
Never seen it done like that. The instructions for fitting to a C200 cassette say to replace the excess pressure valve with the SOG ventilation connector.<snip> drill hole in cassette emptying pipe/tube near to the cap, then a tube up to fan in the cassette locker door, <snip>
I can only comment on the ones fitted to the two vans we bought, maybe badly fitted or an early version they were 02/03 ish.Never seen it done like that. The instructions for fitting to a C200 cassette say to replace the excess pressure valve with the SOG ventilation connector.
If both fans come on at the same time as indicated by @cheyenne, does this prevent creation of negative pressure in the waste-holding tank which is the principle of SOG operation? However, it would appear that the OP's second fan only cuts in after the blade has been closed, so that shouldn't be the issue, but I fail to see the purpose of blowing air through afterwards.
hi guys . your so right about the double fitting the sog was straight forward done it many times fitting the thetford was different couldn't use some of the parts had to make my own but replacing the control panel inside was easy & i just wired in the sog saving me installing the micro switch .van's on storage but will take photo's if needed . cheyenneInteresting, sucking makes sense now I know there is a through floor vent. I haven’t watched the whole video because I am saving mobile data. However he says at the start the system is operated by the flush mechanism. This must mean that there is no fan operating all the time the blade is open until it is flushed. I prefer the SOG arrangement, no chance of smells escaping whilst using the toilet and nothing hanging around in the bowl to give rise to smells.
My SOG is fitted to the cap, which doesn’t appear to be a measuring cap. No need for measuring if you are not using toilet fluid. I still chuck a bio capsule in because it make emptying a bit less unpleasant. I like the SOG roof vent with no need for a charcoal filter. With a double floor the Thetford floor vent would not be straightforward.
That is a possibility and might explain your problem.Manage to find the wire looks like some has added the external sog .and looks like he has cut the wires added his wires .
Just wondering now if he has crossed the live and neutral. Would this reverse the fan so blowing rather sucking.
Not sure, I think a new SOG wouldn't run in reverse but who knows what the previous owner has done to the wiring. Simple test, try a smoke test, get a match or taper smoking open the cassette flap and see if it draws the smokeManage to find the wire looks like some has added the external sog .and looks like he has cut the wires added his wires .

hi. yes it would like i said take the corrugated pipe out of cassette & switch fan on get something that smokes & you will tell straight away if its blowing or sucking . its hard to tell otherwise as the fan is not that powerful but the smoke doesn't lie . cheyenneManage to find the wire looks like some has added the external sog .and looks like he has cut the wires added his wires .

Yes they are a simple PC fan it was either reversed wiring or the fan was fitted backwards, same result.Manage to find the wire looks like some has added the external sog .and looks like he has cut the wires added his wires .

When does your SOG fan switch on? Does it come on with opening the blade or when you flush the loo.Manage to find the wire looks like some has added the external sog .and looks like he has cut the wires added his wires .

hi the sog switches on when you open the blade with a microswitch which you have to place on the blade opening leaver its a lot of messing about installing it but i left mine out & wired it to the thetford fan . cheyenneWhen does your SOG fan switch on? Fan 1 which is the out side sog when blade open. When does your SOG fan switch on? Does it come on with opening the blade or when you flush the loo.
I know that is what a SOG fan should do but I am asking the op what his actually does. Theirs seems to be a combined SOG/Thetford system and they have smell problems. It is possible that in combining the 2 systems the installer has adopted the Thetford flush trigger rather than the SOG blade trigger. SOG is not going to work with a flush trigger and I thought it might be helpful to establish how this combined system eperates because it is clearly not working effectively.hi the sog switches on when you open the blade with a microswitch which you have to place on the blade opening leaver its a lot of messing about installing it but i left mine out & wired it to the thetford fan . cheyenne
That sounds ok. It will be interesting to hear whether checking if the wiring is reversed solves the problem. From an earlier post you talk about fan 1 (SOG) sucking but fan 2 (Thetford) blowing into the cassette. Perhaps it is the Thetford fan that has been reversed not the SOG.Fan 1 which is the out side sog when blade open.
