Spare wheel

It would be interesting to measure the 2 and find out the actual difference. Space saver wheels are very often 1 or 2 inches smaller than the regular wheels.
Your 15" will certainly get you out of trouble on the front. Just don't leave it on and reduce speed to the 50mph recommended for space savers.
Merv I wouldn’t put the 15in on the front it would pull to one side I’d swap them round so it was on the rear .

Some statements have been made re size of 15 and 16 rims having same rolling radius , very much not necessarily the case You need to go to a site like here https://tiresize.com/comparison/ to put in sizes to get a close match
eg 225 70 15 and 215 70 16 .
What size are you running with the alloys ?
I’ve checked the tyre size there is a big difference between the two that’s why I’d only put it on the rear .

Just a thought
What happens if you get a puncture (however good the tyres and puncture prevention system are )and it cannot be repaired with say a puncture repair spray.
MOST breakdown services will not recover you without a spare..( ie they will only do a wheel swap)
Or they will at the cost of an arm and 2 legs !
It simply promotes the "wheel rotation routine"
I bit of a fallacy about the breakdown not recovering you if you don't have a spare wheel a lot of new vans don't even have a spare they will take the punctured wheel away and repair it or replace the tyre

@Exwindsurfer nearest match would be 225 80 15 0.3% diameter difference and same tread width . So driving feel should be almost imperceptible. The diameters need to be close for braking equilibrium , and steering secondary effects , also to prevent diff side gear wear ( although a very small consideration )

Tight git Jeff get a suitable rim and tyre, you just know if one goes it’s going to be in worst possible conditions and would be a front one.

doesnt matter if steel or alloy but match it up then you can just sit back and have an easy life :)

As long as I’ve a wheel to put on I am really not bothered .

PS must remember to put five steel wheel nuts in door pocket lol.
Sticking them in door pocket will only make sure you move them when Chris cleans it out and you lose them, get a good plastic or dry canvas bag and zip tie it on the inside of spare wheel then as soon as you drop the wheel down it’s there

Chris doesn’t touch my van Andy lolol.

I am trying to loose weight Neil lolol

I’ve sorted a new spare out be it 15in which I would only put on a rear wheel anyhow as has been said the rolling diameter is different to my 16in alloy but will make no difference on the rear wheel.
The spare is only there for emergency use, but at least you have one to let you get somewhere, where you can have the damaged tyre repaired or replaced. Would not like to be off the beaten track without a spare....nnnooooo!

If the rim and tyre are the same sizes then it can stay on rather than be temporary. I have read on forums (dodgy I know) that in Spain all tyres have to be same size and make to be legal. I do not know how much truth there is in this and I do know Hymer Germany disregarded it when asked as they fit an odd spare from new to some vans.

anyone considering odd sizes and going abroad may want to check if there is in fact any truth in it.

Unmatched tyres (by a digit) would have failed an MOT except that they swapped rogue for the spare. Had there been a serious accident, waranting close inspection, I could have been in serious trouble. Having different tyres, especially on the front axle, could mean that you are not in proper control.
However, with regard to the age of the tyre, I have been advised by tyre retailers that I should throw away the unused spare 8 years old. NO! Check the gov.uk website - the only tyres with a legal life limit are those on the front axle of a PSV (bus, etc). The tyre may become illegal for other reasons, e.g. sidewall cracks, but age is NOT an automatic limitation. Much depends on where you keep it. Ours is in the benign storage of the camper's garage; exposed to the elements, especially the sun, won't help.

What van do you have? Afaik Ducatos 15 and 16" standard fit Fiat wheels are not interchangeable as they have different PCD's.
If you have another make van that enables the interchange or non standard wheels then ignore this.
K ;)
