One of many reasons I won't have another dog. Too many tears after the trip to the Vet. Last one was a first generation cross between a pedigree Dalmatian and a pedigree Lab, neither breed blessed with much common sense, and that was before my younger on took responsibility for the dog, After Andy's 'training' the dog would answer to 'Patch' and 'Bastard Dog' with equal enthusiasm [or disdain] :D.A great character and temperament, but never again

Not heard that name since I was a child, my mothers name for my dad.

If it’s any consolation Gordon we still miss our first Golden Retriever from 40 years ago.
I miss my Jessica who I rescued at about 3 years old and she was with me for 14 and a half years! I still have her as I kept her ashes and often talk to her LOL. I said never again but I've got 2 more rescues now one I brought back from Morocco and one I rescued Locally!

The feeling of loss can be almost unbearable at times, but for me I can't bear to be without a dog. No matter how painful the loss, it is immeasurable against the love and joy you experience over the years.

Same here Gordon. I was cooking sausages this morning and stuck a couple extra in for honey without thinking. She was a quite wee thing but always let you know she was there when food was around. We’ve lost the cat and dog over the last year and it dose seem quite round here at times.
