Just a heads up for anyone out and about in Nothern Britain on Wednesday and Thursday. Two storms are heading this way and certainly will include winds giving conditions hazardous to anyone in a motorhome not in a sheltered position.

Thanks. We were aware of the forecast, not least because we had planned on leaving on Thursday for the drive to Newhaven. Back to the drawing board for new dates! Our original plan was to sail on 25th November but we had an ECU Airbag failure, so are carrying a Credit Note from DFDS. Fortunately, we hadn't got round to booking for this week, because a further cancellation request may not have been well received ...

I hope you get some luck soon Steve!

Mind you, if you are heading south you'd outrun the storms wouldn't you? Plus...being Scottish a bit of weather doesn't put you off does it? I mean, it's not as if you wouldn't be used to it mate? (A bit like rain where we live in west Wales!).

The forecast wind speeds of up to 90mph would outpace Brunhilde, Graham! There's no rush, and the risk of damage to the M/Home and/or us just isn't worth the risk; and there is the potential burden we may be placing on the Emergency Services if the M/Home is damaged by the wind or falling trees/masonry etc. Any damage caused to Brunhillde would delay us far longer than the couple of days for the storms to pass through, and the cost/availability of spares for what would be seen as an eminently avoidable accident makes the decision for us.

HGV drivers, Emergency Service crews and Essential Workers will have to brave the storms and the delays/frustration etc. It would be selfish for us to add to their problems. My 2020 heart attack happened in Spain on the day of the worst storms for 30 years, starting just after the air ambulance transfer. I had 2 operations because a further blocked side artery was discovered after the first 2 stents were fitted, but the Blood Thinners given after the first operation caused problems stopping the bleeding from the second operation, so my ambulance transfer back to the local hospital was delayed by about 5 hours. The Ambulance Crew were passed the end of the Shift when we set off and drove like the proverbial Bat out of Hell along the AP7 in a hail and snow storm, but the driver lost [but did recover after 4 or 5 seconds] the back end of the ambulance and my pillow was roughly over the rear axle ... When the driver opened the rear doors for unloading the paramedic travelling inside the ambulance used a few choice words, indicating that 'that was a close one'!

My motorhome is rocking around :( In the past I would have moved it to avoid branches landing on it, but Storm Arwen dealt with that possibility.

Actually it was a bit of a damp squib here in the end.
And it was 'here in the end' that the wind was blowing both to and from ... 😊. Quite breezy blowing off the Forth, enough to get under the external door, past the draft excluder and door curtains and exert pressure on the lounge door. During COVID, we already had beyond the required level of ventilation ...

...21 degrees forecast for today

Quite bizarre! Despite the quite dense cloud cover, there is a strong backlit sun effect [not forecast!], and the Solar Panel has peaked at 51w, getting the Leisure Battery to Float mode in a tad over 2.5 hours! People walking by with anorak hoods down and woolly hats removed ...
