I don't know where to put this. I just stumbled across an upcoming event in Interlaken. It is a country and music and trucking weekend with campering.
It's in June.
The basic price for (I think) three nights campering is roughly $75 - that is, 75 UK pounds but I've got a new computer without a pounds button. I'll have to see if I can reconfigure the keyboard. The music events are an extra cost, but seem pretty reasonable to me.
Anyone fancy it? Switzerland gives you goose bumps wherever you look. The trains, on close inspection with a Sherlock Holmes magnifying glass appear to have just come out of the factory, (and they run to the second) the snow is pristine, the mountains are HUGE, the streets are clean and it's one of those countries you wish you were born in, or at least could relocate to.

is there something happening in Rye?

I'll look them up and possibly follow you around all three.

As it happens we will be in the Interlaken area around mid to end June.
I'm not particularly interested in the event, but it means some of the campsites might be fuller than usual, so we'll plan our route accordingly.

I’ve been in and around Switzerland dozens of times by motorbike, although apparently the Swiss now treat the passes as cash cows with speed traps galore so in a way I’m glad not to need to go there.

I’ve also been a few times by car, and also a few by Motorhome. It is a wonderful country, it always feels clean and well maintained and is a joy to visit. But by heck is it ever expensive! I’d go again in a flash if I could.

We have been twice on train excursions with a company called Rail Discoveries. You go to your local train station and after that everything is included. Train to St Pancras, to Switzerland and train rides every day. One day we went by train to the top of the Jungfrau mountain which had a track cut inside the mountain for 8 miles. In between the rails was a rack, and a gear dropped down from the engine and pulled the train up. The rail fare if you bought it at the lower station was nearly half the whole holiday cost. We also did the Bernini Express. That was a brilliant holiday.
Thinking: you can buy a £80,000 motorhome and have motorhome holidays. Or you can buy a £20,000 motorhome, have motorhome holidays plus a £5000 motorbike and have motorbike holidays plus £55,000 worth of cruises and train holidays. We’ve just been all round the world for £23,000 for the two of us.

My point is that instead of getting a new camper you can get a good old one plus lots of other adventures instead

We've had old campers, newer ones are better, old ones can get very expensive, and hard to find parts for.
