never used one of these before so not sure what is normal/typical, but the tap is extremely hard to move. Is this typical? do they tend to loosen up after a bit? or is it more likely to tighten up even more and become useless if so?
I am inclined to return it as faulty as I can't believe it is right but maybe they are? It wasn't expensive by any means but still not worth the money even so if no use.

If its that tight then you may find that you keep loosening the back locking nut when attempting to open it ?

That is something that was concerning me also. I think I am going to have to reject it :(

Yes, mine is tight too...and yes again, the back locking nut is loose.
I'd be interested to hear if you find a good replacement.

Yup send it back as not fit for purpose as it unscrews the backing nut, and get this type instead, where the rotation of the tap cannot affect the tightness of the fitting.

Thanks. The top one looks ideal for the job :)

I'll be ordering the top one in pudseys post and will post back the results :)

I'm pretty sure this is what factory fitted on my Wildax, I cann't actually remember it ever being too stiff but it's definitely not too stiff now so you might want to persevere as it's a good tap.

It looks identical to the brand new van parked next to me at the moment but I guess there can be cheap copies on eBay

given the price I paid, I think it is a looky-like and poor QA. Get what you pay for I guess.
I went to Go Outdoors trying to find something so I could have a feel first but nothing there (Go Outdoors is the nearest to a Motorhome/Caravan place for 30 miles)

I got the replacement tap a few days ago

Not super low, but it is in strong location and very secure.
The pipe coming out the cap in the middle of the tank is acting as an overflow with the pipe set high so will only flow when tank is full. The Tank can also be fully emptied by undoing the bottom cap.
Went for this simple setup over a custom waste tank for cost purposes - this was under £20 all in.

And can still attach the fruit juice straw filters as well where ground emptying is appropriate

Mines tight too but exercise is good and standard Bessacarr build!!!!
