Lots of you are gearing up for the great escape - if you haven't already! - so here's an ear-hurting nostalgic reminder from the 'other side'.
Now the open road is legal again it does seem we're finally making it back out there. ;)

Keep the faith and safe travels everyone. (y) 👌

Rip off Wellerman...

It's rubbish, I can't sing for all the tea in China, but what the hell who cares any more? 🥴 ;) 🙃

It'll either make your ears bleed or depress you even more. 😜
The use of ear defenders is advised!
Neil wouldn't play guitar alongside cos he says he's out of practice. Baaaah! 😜😁

Lyrics below vid.

The Wild Camperman

There once were vans that took to the road
And where they parked up no one told
The winds blew up, their bonnets dipped down
Blow, me battery boys, blow

Chorus:

Soon may the Campers come
To bring fire pits and tea and rum
One day when lock down is done
We’ll take our leave and roam!

Phil’s van’d not been a day on the road
When several campers up they showed
With firewood, smokers, booze galore
They’d turned those vans to solar

Now when Phil’s van does hit the trail
Other vans come to catch his tail
All hands to the wheels, with stickers ablaze
While he drives on before

No vans were gassed, no awnings freed
Camperman’s mind was not on greed
He belonged to the Wildcamper’s creed
He took our vans in tow

For 300 days and even more
Our vans stayed put and tied to shore
With wheels gone flat and horns broke down
Camperman kept us going

As far as I've heard, the fight's still going
Virus ain’t gone, but the aires are coming
Camperman makes his regular call
To encourage us, crew and all

Soon may the Campers come
To bring fire pits and tea and rum
One day when lock down is done
Well take our leave and roam!

Love it!

BTW, thanks for giving the name of the original shanty -- one to add for when we can return to the folk clubs. It certainly seems to be the shanty of the day to parody -- even I did a parody of a parody of it (with Jan on ukulele bass) as a bit of a dirge for those who would have attended regular jam sessions down the pub were it not for the lurgy!
