The EU Cross Border Enforcement Directive

Folks

I can't recall a specific thread about this but are we all aware of it?

Basically it now means that if the authorities in any EU country want to chase a speeder for fines they can now apply to the DVLA for details about the vehicle to enable them to pursue it/us.

Info here...

Now I know that we are all law abiding citizens and don't speed and I'm sure the 'holier than thou' brigade will be along shortly saying that ".. in my 133 years of driving I have never broken the limit"...but in reality we can all get caught out.

I was flashed doing 91Kph in a 90Kph zone in France; and again doing 92 in another zone, on my recent trip to Spain, so easily done especially with the zero tolerance that French cameras seem to have.

It will get worse. The speed cameras have been privitised and therefore want as much revenue as possible. Rumour is that 80 limit means 80. Fini.

luckily we are not matriculated in the EU ?

The only time I have been caught speeding was in France when he popped out from behind a hedge to clock me after I had passed him. Beware.

Will delay be able/willing to pass on details voluntarily after brexit!!!
