Bear in mind that heads of big businesses and people in charge of running almost every sector of government are mainly these educated kids from good families. I don’t see what it should matter what or where the family is or is from, if the child shows ability they should be educated. During my working life I constantly clashed with so called better educated folks from better backgrounds. The fact you can recall something you read certainly does not mean they could implement or even understand it. Some of the stupidest people I have met had at least a first class degree

That was point, Neil. The better off, better educated get the higher positions. The plebs need to have ability to get the qualifications and spend their careers bailing out Jolyon Fortescue Smythe, MA Hons etc ...

A very true point. My grandfather on my dads side was a Coal Miner in the Welsh Pits. And he was determined his children would not follow the same 'career' path.
Both his sons went to University, and ended up very well educated (and genuinely useful as well )
