The oven fell out

Second short trip in our new Pilote P696 and on arrival at the site the oven had fallen out. I mentioned it on the Pilote Facebook group and it seems that it is very common. I don’t understand why the manufacturer hasn’t sorted it, they must know it’s a problem. I wonder what will fall off next!

It’s always frightened me the way some commercial vans are held together
Nothing could be more scary than a 20kg weight going through one’s head as it exits the windscreen during an accident perhaps because someone relied on a couple of self tapping screws into 3mm plywood.

If you can find a secure fixing consider tethering it with chain or steel cable, I have a chain on our fridge and the cooker is bolted into its cabinet which is mounted using unistrut.

Mine was front mounted only 4 tiny screw holes so I added 4 more and used 3 inch stainless round head screws, to be fair it would take a hell of a sideways thump to move it, but 50x50mm was used for all my structural stuff.

best thing to do to secure the oven from falling out is to use a couple of the 30mm wood screws that the rear passenger seats are secured down to the floor with (y)

I had no rear passengers and 50mm trumps 30mm.
