I am using tracker installed on my elddis motorhome, it is due for subscription renewal, but this tracker gives no alerts, you have to discover your motorhome has been stolen, then tell them who then alert the police.
Has anyone got a suggestion for a better alternative, subscription for above is around £150 per year

I have a subscription tracker and pay 3-yearly. Not cheap and roughly equivalent to what you pay. If the motorhome moves without the engine being started, this alerts the monitoring centre. If the engine is started, the monitoring centre obviously cannot know whether the vehicle is being used by an authorised or unauthorised party. However, my provider has an app that enables me to set a geofence when parked, and if the motorhome moves outside that geofence, I am alerted.
I have various other security systems installed, some of which also alert me to intrusion, attempts to start engine, etc.
There are various unmonitored trackers available on the market, some very cheap, but I have not investigated these and do not know whether they will alert you to unauthorised operation. I did read somewhere of people having problems recently with trackers of Chinese origin, which would suddenly only communicate in Chinese.

I have a Phantom tracker and alarm fitted which has been excellent for 2 1/2 years. they do numerous different systems depending on how deep your pockets are. My subscriptions are yearly and approx £150.00. They have an excellent monitoring centre, they call my mobile within 30 seconds if I open the garage without turning the alarm off lol.
Just remember regardless what system you decide on check with your insurance that it’s on their approved list.

This outfit post videos on YouTube, they are always at least a year or more late due to police enquiries and court cases but they do seem to have a good product that works well within the limitations of the technology.

The only trouble is that they have had no stock for a couple of months and it also looks like the design has changed from rechargeable battery to replacement battery at about £30/40 a go.

You might be able to find a rechargeable one to fit, worth enquiring they might have changed to keep retail price down.

That’s what I have had for the last three years. Very pleased with the service.

Which option did you go for?

I use GPS live, £60 to purchase £75 per year,
It simply alerts your phone your phone plus android or tablet for movement, engine status, vibration and if on the move sends a updates via a map on your phone of the vehicles location.

We use phantom which was on the insurers approved list. Gives alerts when vehicle is moved and when alarm goes off, which so far has always been us!!!! Has location on map etc. They call us if we don't respond to alert which is reassuring and they would contact the police. So far so good! We took a five year deal which was cheaper and alarm came as part of the deal.

Any decent tracker will report to a server, which will alert you if a condition you set is achieved. Engine starting, leaving a set geofence, exceeding a specified speed: basically whatever you choose to be alerted about.
There are loads of different systems, but they're all more or less the same. A GPS/GPRS tracker that uses a mobile internet connection to a tracker server. The devices cost between £12 and £150, the server subscription between £15 to £150 per year. Sometimes the data connection cost is included. Otherwise it's another £10 to £20 per year. There are also free tracking servers, but they tend not to keep any historical records.
If you pay more you can get one with an aggressive name "kill the scroat" "outsmart the villan" "bitethief" or similar. They don't work better, but their name makes the customer feel more protected.
