Travel insurance with pre-existing conditions - recommendations needed

Hi
Try Le Shuttle. because it's a French company they are not allowed to ask for pre existing conditions. all they need is that your doctor is happy to state you were fit to travel on the day of departure. I have a heart condition and a friend who has a complex condition of which one is cancer. Our last premiums were £49 each. We also use them whether or not we are using the train.
All the best

I feel your pain! I've spent days trying to sort out my insurance this year, but it made a big difference to the premium just excluding cover for cancellation and baggage, which you would probably want for a cruise, but I don't feel the need for it taking the motorhome to Europe.
Very true. Thanks for the hint I will check on that next year

Nationwide FlexPlus works well for us. They aren't really interested in "old" conditions: the question is always "have you had any treatment for this in the last 12 months?" Worth phoning them for a medical screening. If you want to open an account with them let me recommend you and they'll give us £100 each!
Do I do the screening first or do I get a referral from you first?

Thanks for the tip. I’ve just taken a look at it online and although the annual policy only allows a maximum 31 days trip duration, the single trip policy offers cover for up to 94 days.

I will give them a call later and let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

We have insured for years with American Express. We do not hold an AE card or anything.

Both in our 50's; wife has MS and asthma, nothing declared for me. Its a multi trip policy but only covers for 31 days. The premium hasn't gone up this year from last and is just shy of £54 per year.

Their cost for up to 90 days was very high when I checked...over £300 from memory.

We had occasion to claim from them 5 or 6 years ago and they paid out within 3 weeks (over £1500) and our premium only went up by £3 the following year!

For trips over 31 days I then just by a stand alone policy from one of the comparison sites which was £85 for our trip Jan-March this year, from memory.

Thanks Graham. I've found premiums seem to rocket as soon as I look at anything over 31 days.

I've had a couple of medical scares in the past, but luckily have been fully recovered for years. I am used to paying extra for annual travel insurance but this year my renewal with Wesleyan has almost doubled from £172 to £325 for up to 60 days per trip, limited to European travel only. I have tried AllClear as a specialist insurer for pre-existing conditions but they nearly gave me another heart attack with a quote of £522 for the year, with a maximum holiday duration of just 55 days!!

Has anyone any experience of other insurers that cover pre-existing conditions they could recommend please?
I’ve just used medicalinsurancecompared.com
I got annual insurance worldwide including USA and Canada for £112. I’m 63 with asthma/COPD last year I paid twice this.

Try Age UK. For my wife and myself with pre-existing ( COPD and Osteoperosis) £ 252.00 for 140 days.

Screening first. Only get a referral if you want to open an account. We have an extension to 64 days, but we've had longer extensions in the past.

We’ve found Saga pretty good for annual and per trip insurance, not the cheapest but good all round cover and don’t seem to be to expensive on pre existing conditions.

Has anyone used Barclays "travel pack" ? Includes RAC cover, is limited to 31days per trip but is only £12.50 per month (6 months min.)
K ?
