Traveling with your pet

Annie did you get your harness from amazon?

A harness would seem logical but when Lou Lou doesn’t want to go somewhere she just stops dead and digs in, I am fairly sure if you kept pulling the harness would come over her head so not convinced they are the answer. Would depend on position though and we probably have crap harnesses

CO2’s harnesses ar fleece lined ... Pets at Home own Brand, I think - 4 Peaks. They come in different sized and are fully adjustable to fit the dog. Best I’ve come across.

Will have to go to pets at home and have a look becthey are handy because they don’t mind you trying them on your dog!

We have one we got from Amazon which is soft, padded, doesn't restrict her too much and is easy to put on and off. Previous one was a nightmare getting her in and out of it although seemed secure when in place.

Blanche thinks she is the codriver. She gets all excited when she sees her nice padded harness. It clips onto the passenger seatbelt. If someone else is travelling with me shes not too keen on being relegated to one on the rear seats.

the rac sell a dog harness which comes with a leash which clips into a seat belt. we have one for our lab,

We use harnesses on our three. For leashes I have made 3 lengths of nylon cord with p clips at one end. Two of these terminate in make seat belt clips which go I to the two seat belt sockets in the diner. The other is attached to a strong point by the hab door. All 3 leashes also have trebled up sections of "snoopy loop" (rings of inner tube) to act as further shock absorbers. Our harnesses we got from a local pet shop, but can recommend these as well : https://www.ruffwear.co.uk/dog-gear/harnesses.

Our two immediately go on their bed which lives between the seats on the floor. We do not have any more than driver/passenger seat belts and I am unconvinced any clip in harness would not injure an animal. tge regulations for restraining children are very tight compared to adults and the size of our dogs would put them in toddler category.

My opinion is they are safer where they are and until a court appearance forces me to do otherwise that is how they will stay. For me this comes under the heading of common sense. Not sure I have the same common sense when I stuff the metal grill pan under the duvet or the TV set though ha ha

Agreed! We do the same, apart from the last bit!

We have 2 working cocker spaniels who travel with us. We have had 2 D rings fitted to the floor of our van. Both dogs wear a Ruffwear harness and we use a length of rope with carabiners at each end. One we attach to the dog harness and the other to the D ring. We also have a 5mm piece of plywood which we slide and jam behind both of the front seats, this stops them from getting into the front of the van. At the end of our journey the ply wood slides neatly away in an over cab storage space.
