Travelling in horrible weather

Being a bit of a wuss I tend to avoid travelling in the van if possible in grotty weather. Now I have rashly put myself down for a meet end of Feb and am worrying about pulling out of yet another trip up norf. Think there's a combination of reasons for being a wuss but I make no apology for it. So any polite tips greatly appreciated from veterans and newbies alike.

Depends what you mean by "grotty" and whether it is the actual travelling or the overnighting experience. General opinion is that one should park so that high winds are on front or rear of vehicle rather than side. Whether to opt for front or rear can depend on a few factors, including aerodynamics, which end you sleep, whether you prefer to avoid door being grabbed out of your hand by the wind when opening it.
