TV/radio aerial on Carthago

My Carthago has one small whip aerial used for both radio and TV. As these are two different frequency bands the use of one aerial for both is bound to create performance compromises. Considering it is non directional the performance for TV isn't bad. Taking a closer look at the aerial it appears that its size is optimised for TV. As a result the radio performance is very poor. Has anyone modified their aerial system to overcome this issue?

Having taken a short look at ways to overcome this problem I wasn't able to locate the junction box which acts as a splitter for the aerial output between the two outputs (radio and TV). The TV on my Carthago is located in an upper locker. I am considering using a Vision plus 570 aerial. With careful placement I think that there may be just enough room for the retractable aerial post inside the TV locker. That way the TV no longer needs the existing aerial and it enables the use of a directional aerial. To improve the radio performance I have had a suggestion to unscrew the existing aerial and replace it with a standard rooftop car aerial.

Comments please.

Why not install a booster, these have a radio output?

Changing to a matching aerial will always be better than trying to make up for a poor signal with a booster. I am really looking for input from anyone who has fitted a second aerial so that both TV and radio can have an optimally matched aerial feed.

Have you seen the Laird on here has a tv aerial for sale, I'm sure he is open to negotiation.

Just a thought, why not email the manufacturer? You own a quality product and others may have had similar to which there may be a 'factory' fix. My van has a similar setup with 3 cables eminating from the whip antenna but when in range I get a good TV signal and the radio is always flawless.
