Tyre Tax Possibility

Does this mean, like when they raised a window tax, we'll be seeing vehicles with one or more tyres missing or using some substitute for a wheel.
Sorry in advance for the light hearted response.

Not at all, Lee. Ridiculing a proposal such as a Tyre Tax is a very effective way of showing how batshit-crazy this is! The people who cannot work from home tend to be in the lower paid occupations, so they are more likely to be under the cosh from the cost of living crisis, putting a tenner's worth of fuel to get to/from work etc. So adding extra costs to this category of worker is both deeply unfair, and possibly tempting car owners to skimp on maintenance such as tyres ... Until the accident happens and puts one or more people in hospital at a cost to the hard-pressed NHS ...

Should this happen, what I think is likely to happen is an increase in the sale of part-worn tyres, coming off company cars and the like where the drivers are paying for the tyre.
