UK Government website updated today. New requirement from 1st February for COVID vaccination to be no older than 270 days; if this is the case, you must be able to show proof of a Booster Jab. The text below has been copied from the webpage:

  • Until 1 February, at least 14 days must have passed since being fully vaccinated (with both doses of a 2-dose vaccine or one dose of a single-dose vaccine) before arrival in Spain.
  • From 1 February onwards, at least 14 days must have passed since being fully vaccinated (with both doses of a 2-dose vaccine or one dose of a single-dose vaccine) before arrival in Spain. Your date(s) of vaccination must be specified and your final dose must have been administered within 270 days prior to travel to Spain. If you completed your vaccination (with both doses of a 2-dose vaccine or one dose of a single-dose vaccine) more than 270 days prior to travel to Spain, you must be able to show proof of having receiving a booster jab.

Update from a Guardian article; it seems that the 270 days limit for the validity of the 2 vaccine validity is an EU Directive [it was mooted some weeks ago but fell from public gaze as Omicron grabbed the headlines], but the FCO have only posted about it in relation to Spain ...

Booster Jab Requirements across EU

  • Thank You

The 270 day rule is a problem for Mrs GMJ as for some insane reason the Welsh NHS website does not have her 3rd jab as being recorded on her records. My booster is but her main 3rd jab isn't!

Let's hope we are not stopped and asked for it when we are in Spain!

We've been in Andalucia since mid December and have only had to show our COVID passport apps about 3 times.... We've usually eaten outside and they don't ask for it when you go in to the loo...masks are usually worn inside shops n bars, and around some towns with narrow streets.

That's good to know, thanks for that.

We have a letter from our local Health Board confirming Mrs GMJ has had 3 full vaccinations as opposed to 2 plus a booster, if needs be.

We had trouble getting Dave's first jab recorded on the NHS app. He had it within minutes of mine which showed fine. In the end the GP sorted it out and got it entered. I am sure you have tried this though, there must be a way for them to enter it manually.

I just returned from Lanzarote on Sunday and this new rule was all over local media coming in on 1st February. I have my next trip booked for Tenerife booked later this year and my entry date is 271 days after my booster jab (Pfizer jabs x3) ! Will I have to get another booster (4th jab) in order to enter Spainish territory? Who knows 🙄

Yes you would think so especially as there must be a field in the programme they use to enter info as mine shows as a 3rd jab (booster). I have asked that they just amend my wife's record to show her 3rd main jab as a booster just to hep us out...

Hmm...we'll see!

We were in Calpe over Christmas and now near Murcia since New Year. We've not been asked for any proof of vaccination since disembarking in Santander. Nearly everyone wears a mask in the street etc and also in restaurants, accept when eating.

That's all good to know, thanks.

Masks are worn in Portugal on streets ( if narrow....but not sure if city folk do the same) and always indoors unless eating. We have had waiters ask us to put on a mask while they are serving at the table. Supposed to show vaccination proof if eating inside but have not been asked yet. Big events, bars and clubs...need to show vaccination proof. Haven't seen anyone not wearing a mask in shops.

Success!

After numerous emails and requests, my wifes' records have been amended and her record now show all 3 jabs she has had. This enables me to copy her record into the touscovid app. We will need to get the record amended back when we get back home so she once again goes onto the priority list for her 4th (booster) jab.

Re mask wearing. There is a great deal more of it going on here in Spain than we have seen back in Blighty. Folks wear them around the campsite and in the streets. There was 100% compliance in the supermarket yesterday as well.

I had the same problem but took the card you get when you have the booster into my GP surgery and they added it to my NHS records.

My contact at our Health Board explained that they had to change the priority status for my wife to enable the 3rd main jab to be recorded as a booster. When we get back I am to email her again and get my wife's status put back to as it was. Then it will enable her to be called for her 4th jab...which will be her booster.

Mind you, I have been told the that the computer system will be amended by the end of Feb so we may not have this problem in the future...

...plus all this testing to go abroad malarkey may well be over soon anyway (until the next time I guess...)
