'Office wallahs', Kev? I think your views are somewhat dated. 'Office wallahs' have been excluded from, or placed on downrated contributory pension schemes for around the last 20 years. The services sector contributes more to the UK economy than does the manufacturing sector and 'Office wallahs' are subject to burnout as staffing numbers are reduced and productivity targets raised as much as manufacturing staff are at risk of physical injuryIt's almost like they're trying to piss people off, but manual labour builds things and that must create more wear and tear on the body, so I think it's a good idea, not sure office wallahs will like it though, but they are possibly more likely to have a private pension so maybe don't care.
Aye, afterwards, Kev!My contribution the mornings festivities Steve.
I did give a date warning.
Charing crossIn the late 90s I used to have a regular run up to Glasgow for one of my customers (Ventrolla) They made double glazing units for old building to keep the Victorian look, dropping off at Lockerbie on the way. They had a place on Radnor St in the city. My TomTom always took me via the M8 but took me off on a right side exit ramp into the city, I just tried to find it on Google but failed, maybe they took it out, I loved going up there as I always got a great welcome, with coffee and cake and a couple of beautiful girls in the office, all the gear had to go in via a small flap under the shop window into the cellar.
France and Greece each had lists of special occupations who could claim their pensions at earlier than the 'normal'retirement age. Wolfgang Schauble was the German Finance Minister at the time of the PIIGS economic crisis [Portugal, Spain, Italy Ireland, Greece and Spain] and was obsessed with punishing the feckless Greeks, even though the then emerging Modern Financial Theory [that gave us Quantitative Easing, amongst other things] said that a country that could issue its own currency could never really become bankrupt because it could issue more money to pay the bills, and use taxation/inflation/interest rates to manage the sovereign debt.I don't know if people remember back around 2008 I think as part of the 'financial crisis' global meltdown, when Greece went bankrupt . How Greece did things and spent monet went into the spotlight and one of those things IIRC was how hairdressers in Greece got to claim their state pension at 48 years of age or something like that due to them standing up in their job all day?
You could have phoned me and we would have had one each, coffee not the girls, well ok then the girls and to hell with the coffee. In the late 90s I used to have a regular run up to Glasgow for one of my customers (Ventrolla) They made double glazing units for old building to keep the Victorian look, dropping off at Lockerbie on the way.
