Think most of recent weather warnings down here have been because of saturation of ground generally, so they have to raise warnings.
As long as you drive sensibly and are aware of surface water as you travel, I’ve not experienced any problems
Warnings for warnings sake and more than my jobs worth not to

SE Cornwall here. Weather is OK right now, but Cornwall Council are closing the main roads in rotation over the next few weeks -- but you should be OK if you get where you want to get to by 8:00 pm.
