This happened to a friend of mine, he went away in his motorhome a few weeks ago for ten days, last week he got a statement from his bank it show 4,000 euros had been taken out of his account for many thinks purchased on the internet. The police ask him if he had use the card when he was away he said yes only 3 times to get fuel, what the police think is at one of the places he got fuel they took a photo of his card and sold it on or used it themselves. So to anyone coming over here that uses a credit card don't let the card out of your site once you have handed it over.
